I’m so humbled when we get to meet the friends and family of our past #urpcouples that then become current clients and friends of ours! I first met Kathryn while Annie + Chris were planning their wedding last April (see their beautiful early spring wedding here!); she’s Chris’ beautiful younger sister and I still remember the text Annie sent me when Kathryn officially got engaged. I felt so connected to this family already and was so full of excitement and joy for them!
I love it when clients have an idea of a location or a specific look in mind that allows our time together to be that much more meaningful and comfortable! I’m always happy to suggest locations, but when Kathryn mentioned how much they love being outdoors together we tossed around a few different ideas and after landing on Fells Point near the building “with the blue shutters on the water” (aka Henderson’s Wharf), I knew we were going to have a BLAST… it’s my favorite spot and with their chemistry and passion for bringing their pup Cooper on all of their adventures (YAY for bringing pups to photoshoots – YES, PLEASE!!!), magic was bound to happen. 🙂
I loved hearing their story, in their own words… Casey, I’m pretty sure you win the award for best hydration technician there ever was and ever will be! 😉
“We first met in our high school phys ed class. We started hanging out at school and Casey became the girls lacrosse manager, or hydration technician, as he liked to call it :).
During lacrosse season, Kathryn went down with an injury (torn ACL) and Casey was there throughout the entire process of surgery and rehab and he always had the right words to say. We “officially” began dating on May 31st, 2009, when we went out to Qdoba, knee immobilizer and all, and later got a movie from Blockbuster.”
And now, the proposal… (with one of the most beautiful solitaire rings I’ve ever seen, btw!!)
“On February 17th, 2017, Casey set up a dinner reservation at Pairings Bistro, where we enjoyed a nice dinner and drinks. When the check came, Casey could not add the tip to save his life, which later makes sense. He told me we had to go back to his parents house to pick up flowers that were delivered there for Valentine’s Day for me. When we arrived, Cooper met me at the door, which I was surprised by because he should have been at my parent’s house. As we walk in the door, I realized my mom and dad were both there as well. I was now beginning to think this could be the proposal, but then kept saying in my head it couldn’t be, because my Mom didn’t make me get my nails done. A few moments later, Casey grabbed my hand and walked me to the backyard which was set up with tea lights, rose petals and a full bouquet of roses all the way down the path to the fire pit that was lit. At this point, he got down on one knee, with our closest family, and asked me to marry him. We celebrated that evening with our parents and siblings with cake and champagne.”
I’m crazy excited for you both (and your families!) and can not wait to celebrate with you at Wyndridge Farm this September (6 months from this Thursday… not that I’m counting down or anything)! Your love for craft breweries, spending time outdoors, being the best dog parents and celebrating with family is such a part of your everyday life that it should absolutely all be a part of your wedding day!
Here’s to your best year yet… and we know the sunset will be even more incredible that night as you get used to your new titles of Mr. + Mrs!!! 😉
xoxo, Naomi
