Kim and Brian’s wedding was focused on the main thing everyone tells me they want: a fun, party atmosphere and celebration with all of their families and friends that are never in the same place all at one time!
So how’d they make a lively and fun cocktail-style wedding happen? By embracing what makes their unique love story special and not being afraid to break tradition…
This humble DC power couple chose to get married in Baltimore and incorporate the perfect combination of modern, crisp, minimalist elements into their non-traditional wedding at Habitat Seya…
-
For their ceremony, Kim wore the eye-catching, open-backed BHLDN Ludlow gown – full of graphic lace that lended a modern edge to a traditional bridal look, this dress was STUNNING and so perfect for Kim! Brian wore a dark gray suit with just a skinny emerald tie and no boutonniere – a crisp, clean and simple look for this modern groom!
-
And then… (!!!) Kim and Brian changed outfits before being introduced into their reception; Brian wore a slim-fit blue paisley suit jacket and Kim chose a chic one-shoulder white jumpsuit (…call me OBSESSED!)
-
A life-sized Pitbull cut-out and an acrylic “let’s get this party started” welcome sign greeted guests as they entered the reception…
-
They chose to keep things minimal with no bridal party and instead focus on involving their close family during important moments throughout the day; Kim’s brother held their grandmother’s bracelet while she got ready and shared a reading during the ceremony, Kim shared a sweet first look moment with her dad before he drove her to the park for a first look with Brian, and Brian’s sister gave a touching and memorable speech that brought tears to everyone’s eyes!
-
Blue Pit BBQ catered dinner with cocktail height tables rather than formal assigned seating for everyone, to encourage mingling, dancing and as much fun as possible 😉
-
Foregoing any special dances (you read that right: no first dance or parent dances), they instead chose to have 6 different groups of friends and family give speeches touching on every part of their lives!
Having first met in person at Right Proper, a brewpub in Washington, DC where they live and work (btw, I love how many DC couples are choosing to get married in Baltimore!); they tasted different beers and ended up talking for hours… then while on a day trip to Richmond, VA visiting breweries and hiking with their dog Dale, Brian proposed at a historic hotel in the city.
Kim and Brian share a love of dogs, hand-crafted sweets (especially donuts and Baked & Wired cakecups), local craft beer, spending time outdoors, a good sense of humor and close relationships with friends and family; they couldn’t be a more perfect Urban Row couple if they tried!
Here’s to a lifetime of celebrating #goingforbroecker…! But for now, have an incredible time on your honeymoon!
